Taxpayers Have Until 12pm on May 13th to Sign Up for Stimulus Check Direct Deposit

The IRS has announced that taxpayers that wish to receive their stimulus payments via direct deposit have until noon on Wednesday, May 13th to provide their bank account details via the Get My Payment tool. This deadline is for taxpayers who have not previously provided their direct deposit information in filing their taxes. The IRS will use the direct deposit information from taxpayers’ 2018 tax returns if the information was provided when they were filed.

Taxpayers who elect to receive their payments through direct deposit will receive their funds much sooner than those who do not; paper checks will be sent out to anyone not registered for direct deposit after the noon deadline. Checks are expected to hit taxpayers’ mailboxes beginning in late May and will extend through June.

Individuals who are not required to file a federal tax return can still submit their information and receive their funds through direct deposit here.

Taxpayers should directly visit the IRS website at www.irs.gov to provide information or check the status of their payments to avoid potential scams related to the stimulus payments. As a reminder, the IRS never sends unsolicited information, attachments, or requests for personal information.
