John C. Barka is a Partner in the Tax Department of Prager Metis CPAs, a member of Prager Metis International. John also leads the banking and financial institution niche. He has been in the accounting profession for more than 14 years.
John has an expertise in U.S. taxation of international corporations, individuals, and banking and financial institutions. His tax work includes tax planning, structuring and preparing Federal, State, and Local tax returns with intricate international issues, preparation of and review of tax accruals and handling companies with multi-state filing requirements. He works closely with multinational corporations to manage cross border direct and indirect tax issues, foreign tax credit and repatriation planning, and reorganization of expatriate and inpatriate tax matters.
John assists individuals with international estate planning, inbound tax structuring of investments in U.S. real property, and pre-immigration planning, as well as with cross border tax issues and filings for FINCEN compliance.
John has a reputation for building close personal relationships with his clients. He goes above and beyond to know their world and ensure that they achieve their financial goals.
John is a fluent Turkish speaker and frequently works with Turkish clients on U.S. and international tax issues.
