Beyond traditional accounting, Prager Metis offers a number of unique services for members of the entertainment and music industries including protection of intellectual property, litigating breach of contract actions, royalty disputes, copyright termination claims, and other industry-related disputes.

Bruce I. Kolbrenner, the Managing Partner of our Los Angeles office is one of our many who represents performers, composers, songwriters, music publishers and record labels in copyright, royalty and other litigation. Mr. Kolbrenner served as an expert witness in the “Blurred Lines” attribution case that shook the entertainment industry with its $5.3 million verdict.

His outstanding role in the verdict is what led to the “Blurred Lines: Music Industry Damage Calculations” panel at this year’s SXSW festival where he discussed his experience as an expert witness.

“There was a tremendous energy at the panel regarding the attribution case. Something of this magnitude was unprecedented, and to be able to explain and discuss such an important role in music litigation history with others was wonderful.”

As disputes over music rights become more public and grab mainstream headlines, the role our consultants play becomes more crucial.

The expertise of Prager Metis in the realm of entertainment and music encompasses leading music publishers, merchandise rights agencies, major motion picture studios, superstar athletes,  fashion designers, video game developers and many of the most successful companies and artists of all time — Emmy, Grammy, Olivier, Oscar, Tony, and Pulitzer Prize winners among them.
