Tyler Donnellan is a Principal in the Tax Department of Prager Metis CPAs. He has been in the accounting profession since 2013.
Tyler’s background combines tax compliance, planning, and consulting across diverse industries with a caring, reliable, and detail-oriented client service philosophy. He leverages his experience to assist clients with complex tax obligations, financial reporting, and strategic business needs, while consistently championing excellence in delivery.
Internally, Tyler manages and develops Prager Metis’s diverse global tax team to deliver compliance and planning excellence. In this leadership role, he provides vision and direction for the practice while continuing to work directly with clients, ensuring their reporting and strategic business needs are fully addressed. An engaged educator and presenter, Tyler has taught CPE to the firm nationally and locally on complex passive activity loss rules. He has also presented real estate tax strategies to Asheville Real Estate Investors organizations. He is a member of the Prager Metis Tax Learning Committee.
Tyler’s client service emphasizes timely communication and responsiveness, proactive identification of planning opportunities, and the cultivation of strong, trusting relationships. He partners with clients to resolve tax issues and support their financial and family goals. Through a robust network of tax specialists, wealth management professionals and family offices, and estate planning attorneys, he helps provide comprehensive solutions for a broad spectrum of client needs.
With extensive experience in tax compliance and planning, and a hands-on accounting background, Tyler helps business owners prepare their records for accurate tax reporting. He partners with clients preparing a growing business for sale, guiding related tax due diligence, planning, structuring, and reporting. He works with multi-state corporations on nexus considerations, including market-based sourcing analysis, and brings a deep understanding of passive activity loss rules to better serve and advise real estate investors. His practice also includes high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, multi-tier
partnerships, and investment partnerships.
