Prager Metis CPAs Launches Tax Controversy Practice; Combines with E. Martin Davidoff & Associates CPAs

CAT November 20, 2018 – New York, NY—  Prager Metis CPAs, a leading accounting and advisory firm with offices in North America, Europe, and Asia, announces its combination with E. Martin Davidoff & Associates, a prominent full-service CPA firm in Dayton, New Jersey. The combination was official as of November 16, 2018. The deal was facilitated by Whitman Business Advisors.

Marty Davidoff and Robbin Caruso will be joining the firm as Partners, who will head up the National Tax Controversy Practice. The staff will remain in their current location in Dayton, New Jersey until January 2019, at which time the entire staff will be relocating to the newly expanded Prager Metis Cranbury office at 1249 South River Road, Suite 303, Cranbury, New Jersey 08512.

アメリカ政府で長年にわたり使われてきた紙の小切手が、ついに姿を消そうとしている。2025年3月25日、トランプ大統領は「Modernizing Payments to and from America’s Bank Account」と題する大統領令14247号(EO 14247)に署名した。これにより、2025年9月30日をもって小切手や郵便為替といった紙ベースの決済は原則廃止され、すべての連邦政府取引が電子決済へと切り替わる。その目的は、時代遅れとなったアメリカにおける紙の決済手段を排し、効率と透明性を高め、金融取引をスピード化することだ。しかし、この「デジタル・ファースト」指針は、米国内に銀行口座を持たない外国企業―特に日系企業―に実務上の大きな波紋を広げようとしている。今回は、本大統領令の概要と、実施期限である2025年9月30日の前後に検討すべき事項を概説する。 A. 大統領令14247とは 2025年9月30日以降、すべての連邦政府機関は、限られた例外を除き、社会保障給付、税金還付、ベンダーへの支払い、政府内送金などにおいて紙の小切手を発行できなくなる。代替手段として、各機関は以下の電子決済手段を利用する。
